Narrative
CENTRAL POINT, OR – A 45-year-old man died Tuesday when a vehicle struck him in central Jackson County.
The accident happened shortly before 4:45 a.m. in the area of Foothill Road and Corey Road, which is just southwest of Jackson County Sports Park.
Police say that a cyclist was riding on the shoulder of Foothill Road when a southbound 2021 Toyota 4Runner hit and killed him.
Authorities identified the victim as Matthew Edward Davenport.
The driver of the Toyota stopped at the scene to render aid and speak with officers.
A full investigation is underway.
