Narrative
CROOK COUNTY, OR – A driver lost their life Friday morning as a result of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 126 near west Powell Butte that injured two other people.
Oregon State Police said the accident occurred near milepost 6, about a mile west of the city, between Redmond and Prineville. It was first reported shortly after 8:00 a.m. and prompted a road closure, but one lane was reopened by 10:00 a.m.
While officials did not immediately share what led up to the crash, one of the drivers was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other driver and their passenger were transported to a nearby hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
Traffic in both directions of the highway was being flagged, but shortly before 11:00 a.m., crews had cleared the scene and the roadway was completely reopened to the public.
