Narrative
CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR – A single-vehicle wreck Sunday afternoon, June 9, in Eagle Creek claimed the life of a 49-year-old Portland resident and left another person seriously hurt.
According to Oregon State Police, the victim was a passenger in a westbound Chevy 1500 pickup being driven by a 51-year-old, also of Portland, near milepost 16, between Southeast Stoneybrook Lane and Southeast Bartlemay Road.
Shortly before 2:46 a.m., the Chevy veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and collided with a telephone pole on the highway’s north side.
The 49-year-old passenger died from their injuries at the scene.
The driver was rushed to a local hospital for injuries considered serious. No updates on their condition have been made available.
At least part of the roadway was blocked off for an investigation, which remains in progress. Officials say impairment appears to have played a role in the collision.
